ERA

1. I think that the ERA wasn't a good idea. It was a bad idea because women are not equally made to men. It was a good idea for having equal job rights and equal pay so that men and women would get they same amount of money for the job they are doing. It was a bad idea because if there was a military draft they would have to sign up. Most women wouldn't be able to fight in a war because most of them wouldn't to. I think that the ERA had some good ideas but the bad ideas overpowered the good ones.

2. I don't think it needs to be brought up again in court. It does not need to be brought up again because women have most of they same rights as men do. One reason it might be brought back up in court because of some discrimination that is put towards women and being a housewife. Some women choose to be housewife's and some don't. I think that people wont change their ways even if the ERA is passed or not.

Jackie Robinson

I feel that Jackie Robinson deserves to be ranked as one of the greatest civil rights figures in American history. I feel that he isn't the greatest civil rights figure but he is up there with Rosa Parks and M.L.K. Jackie is a great figure because he was able to break the "color barrier" in the white baseball league. He had to not fight back to all the remarks that were made by the players and the people in the crowd. He was able to over come everything and be the first African American baseball player in the white baseball league. I feel that Jackie Robinson is one of the greatest civil rights figure in American history.

Big Boy Bombaroo

The Zooks and the Yooks both meet at the wall. Both the Zook and the Yook had their bombs ready for battle. They were both scared of the outcomes of the bombs, so the Zook and the Yook talked over the consequences.    They both know that the Big Boy Bombaroo can cause some serious damage. So the Zook and the Yook talked over their differences of buttering their bread, they said who cares. The Zooks and the Yooks took down the wall and lived together, saying you can butter your bread how ever you please.
The End.

Simpsons Prohibition

1.)  I think the Simpson’s did a great job to portray the 1920s prohibition in Springfield. The episode has a lot of true things that happened in the prohibition in the 1920s. Then they also put some funny twists on the information. The characters in the episode looked like they could be in the 1920s and acted like they were in the 1920s. I liked the episode because it was historically correct and it was fun to watch. Some of the elements that were portrayed well were the music, dancing and the way the people acted. I thought that this episode portrayed the 1920s in a great way.

2.)  Some things that the producers could have put in was to incorporate the mob a little more. The mob was a big part in the 1920s they had a lot of money and power in the towns. They could also show the money that Homer made and what he would have spent the money on, because people that had alcohol would have made a good amount of money. I think the producers did a good job in the episode.

Reflection Question

Should U.S. citizens be forced to give up civil liberties during a time of war? Should the govt. have to enforce loyalty? Why or why not?

I think that American's should not be forced to give up their civil liberties during a time of war. I think this because people should be able to say what is on their mind when ever they want. Also Americans have the freedom of speech which is in the first amendment. I think the government shouldn't have to enforce loyalty. Most of the Americans would stay loyal to their country in a time of war, and if they are not loyal then it is their decision. The government doesn't have the right to control a person freedom of speech. I think that the government should not enforce loyalty and can't force American's to give up their civil liberties in a time or war.

Progressive Era Reform

A problem that the U.S. has is border control and illegal immigration. This is a huge problem in todays society because people are coming into the U.U. illegally. This causes a lot of problems one of the problems is the people that cross the border take jobs from unemployed Americans that are in the U.S. The illegal aliens work for less money so business owners would hire some one that would be willing to be payed less money to work. Another problem they cause is drug smuggling, they bring in illegal drugs and sell them to Americans. Also they cause crime in the U.S. witch is a problem. A way the U.S. can fix this problem is have more border patrol and also it would be a good idea to have cameras around the borders so they can catch them in the act.
